They should put them in the army.....

You could have one squadie and one oik working in a team.

The squadie does the fighting and the oik takes up the rear pushing his kit in a trolly.

I bought LGV last year - I had never grown veg before, it got me started in containers in the back yard and I put my name down for a lottie which I have just got

I don't get to a tesco so will probably buy the next issue if it is available in other shops.

Bought my copy at Tesco Trowbridge on Monday, haven't had a chance to have a really good read yet -it's half term- but as I would have been buying those seeds anyway for me it was a bargain, and for me any extra advice is a bonus, I want my first full allotmenting year to be brilliant and abundant!

A few people have said their local Tesco hadn't heard of it but they went back the next day and found it on the shelves. It's in at least 550 of their 600 main stores.

I think it's worth phoning in advance and asking to speak to someone in the magazine department before making a journey! They can speak to their head office and let you know exactly which stores have it in your area.

There is often confusion about new magazines at distribution level - in fairness to the staff in the stores, they probably have hundreds of titles to think about so it can't be easy to remember all the new ones that are coming in.

Does anyone know why it's only available at Tesco's? Is it another case of Tesco's using it's muscle to oust competition?

I hate even going in through the doors at Tesco (and ASDA for that matter), there's just something about the place gets my back up - the ambience of the place, the decor, the colours I dunno.

I hear what you're saying about the puns Flummery, some of them are brilliant (sadly never the ones I come up with) but you can have too much of a good thing!

This grumpy old woman(?!) has just made a few phone calls/emails regarding this mag.

Not yet (maybe at all?) available thru subscriptions line.

                              Background....
It was Tesco who made the approach to GYO to propose the 'exclusive' deal. I understand that originally there were to be only 2 issues this year and that this earlier one was put together just for Tesco. This would also explain the later than expected publishing date. I can only assume there was something mutually beneficial seen by both parties to agree to this?

I have spoken to a nice lady at Aceville who tells me that as there was as 'exclusive' that 2-3 weeks of sales from the contracted outlet will take place before purchases can be made via the website. I am told that we might expect an option to buy online sometime within the next 2-3 weeks - probably nearer to 3 due to delay in publishing.

I have made it quite clear that 'almost' nothing would tempt me to spend in Tesco and would simply purchase and leave asap. But like many of you I will NOT be making an extra journey just to pick up the mag - I'd rather pay postage and get a bit later.

Hope this info will help those who cannot yet get hold of a copy and want to at a later date.

                                bump'ing this post up.....

Could anyone who has purchased this mag please indicate whether there are any expired dates to apply for send-away offers etc.

Still no link to buy online - I'm starting to think perhaps it won't happen and if/when it does all the offers will be past application dates.

Please PM with any details of expiry or application if you have them (and wish to share - no oblig) - I'll try and get mag if/when it becomes vailable thru normal channels - despise this exclusive tesco lark.
