How old do you think you are?

Although I'm 38, for some reason in my head I think I'm still 24, and when someone asks how I'm going to celebrate the big 40 I can't believe I will be doing that in 18months time because my head says I'm 24!


I got married at 24 and wonder if that is why I'm mentally stuck at that age...


Just wondered if it was just me or do others imagine in their minds that they are a particular age?

I'm 40 but generally feel younger, maybe because my children are all still quite small (10, 8, 6 and 2). Someone I knew from a few years ago was trying to place me when we met again recently and she asked if I had an 18 year old daughter - I was very nearly offended, till I thought about it and realised that's a perfectly reasonable question to ask of someone my age! I'm also constantly suprised that doctors, policemen, solicitors and other people with big and clever jobs appear to be younger than me. How did that happen?

I'm still trying to come to term with the fact that i'll be 29 at the end of this year, and therefore 30 the year after. I still don't feel old enough to have my own house/job/fiance/dog/etc and certainly can't believe that i'm old enough to be getting married 8 weeks from today. Think i feel about 18ish still.

i think i'm mid twenties, till i look in the mirror and see an old lady staring back (who's she then?) & even worse my baby brother turned 40 a few weeks back

i am 37 now but certainly don't feel it. This is going to sound big headed but no one believes it either! i had to show someone my passport because they didn't believe my age. I think a lot of it though is down to attitude. I am still a student, I still go to see bands live, I still enjoy festivals, drinking and having fun. I try not to take life to seriously.

I think I feel my age.
I'll be 30 this summer and was depressed to think that I'd be 30 and only just married with no kids. However, we do own our own home (ok, apart from being mortgaged to the hilt!), and 3 cars (and 3 cats - a helluva responsibility! ) I also have a full time job as a teacher, which I guess is quite grown up. That said, I teach small people, which gives my carte blanche to act the kid at times!
Any hoo, have given over to the fact that 30 looms and decided 2 days ago that we will be having a party to celebrate this, hubby's birthday and our first anniversary. Basically it's a bit of an excuse to have a mini re-run of the wedding party... but less expensive!

I'll be 40 next year but think I've got stuck somewhere around 29! I still love going to see bands and partying (though not as often these days!) - and my 10 year old daughter gets embarassed 'cos I get 'over-excited'!

Having said that, I am now enjoying the grown-up privelege of embarassing your children immensely!!

I so do that too, embarass 11 year old daughter, especially when I pick her and her friends up from school and sing along to Radio 2 with the windows down through the town!!!

I tell them it's one of the priviledges of being Mum!!!

I hadn't yet turned 30 when I got promoted the last time, and I was absolutely the "baby" of the section (despite being the boss!!). Youngest by almost 20 years. So for ages when I was going in to get some funky highlights done, I would specifically ask the girl NOT to colour the couple of grey hairs I had as I needed the authority!!

Now, I still feel very young, but don't really care anymore as I know I have caught out some more senior than me on things, so am starting to learn how to sound like I know more than I really do - and that is better for the authority thing in this place than any amount of grey hair (and I don' have any staff at present either, so I can go mad funky studenty look again - like bright pillarbox red highlights!!)

I'm 43 but generally feel and act younger, especially as I have 2 grandkids, oldest is 3 shortly. (Yes yes I know, but I didnt want to, the big girl made me do it)
Age for me truly is just a number, I feel about mid 30's I spose and its only my body which is telling me any different.
If anything, I wish I could have been born about 3 years before I was, as I would have then experienced first hand the first and only euphoria of England winning the world cup in football.

Actually that's complete rubbish. I'm 44 not 43.

My OH is 50 in a couple of weeks and I'm in shock as to how I've wound up married to this old man when mentally I'm still in my early twenties. I've found that whilst the kids may have put years on us the grandkids are quickly taking them off. The oldest I've ever felt was when I went back to uni as a mature student aged 31 - I felt about ready to draw my pension every day for three years. I'm 48 and do actually vaguely remember England winning the world cup. My gran took me out for the day so I wouldn't disturb the rest of the family while they watched it - I would have been six at the time. Unfortunately it ran into extra time (when doesn't it?) so we arrived back before the end. It was shocking really as I'd never before seen so many adults crying.

i'll be 40 next year but wont be celebrating my birthday - single parent, family that don't really give a monkeys about me and my kids, feels like only handful of friends spread far and wide - wouldn't be much of a 40th party if i had one!

unless of course i invite my kids and their mates - always got a houseful of 11 year olds - and great fun being with them! guess that makes me about 11ish!
