We've just had an earthquake!

Seahorse - you got it bad...I jumped out of bed swearing like a trooper, ran around the house, worked out that the birds were now singing and told the OH it was obviously an earthquake and we both spent the rest of the night trying to get back to sleep.

My OH's 10 year old daughter didn't even bat an eyelid and slept straight through...aah well, the innocence of youth. Good to know she sleeps through the actual earth moving, so no need to worry about waking her any more.

Strong in Notts too. We had a rumble growing louder which woke us up, then the whole house shook and ended in a loud thump (the thump bit we haven't worked out yet!?) anyone else feel this at the end? We though a bit of furniture had fallen over either in the house or perhaps the loft or that the had chimney fallen off!? Not found anything yet though that looks a likey culprit.

Never felt a thing at our house, but then freight trains go past at night so we're used to the odd rumble.

Doubtless if we were nearer it would have felt stronger. As has been said, hope everyone's ok.

First we heard about it was on the news this morning. Felt as far south as London apparently?

We live quite close to a main train line where freight trains often pass at night and they make the house (especially upstairs) tremor gently. It would therefore have to be quite a rumble to wake us.

Well the earth moved for me too ... lol here in Grimsby only 20 miles from Market Raisen where the epi centre was 5.2 on the scale so i'm told ... but nothing harmed seedling babies all ok ... o' and so are the hubby and kids bonus!!

I heard a shot in my dream..then suddenly realized that the bang was real!
I remember the one back in 1984 - was just about to get out of bed for work. The one last night was 0.1 weaker....not a lot of difference!
