  • Gardening books - how many do you have?

Seems I was the clear winner at having the most cookery books I haven't been collecting gardening books that long though, so have only a measly 46.

I absolutely LOVE books, so I'm sure there are many more gardening volumes in my future

I'd be interested to know how many other folk have!
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

So, are we bragging or complaining here?

Edit - only 53, but you see having a room full of books upstairs, means that I have to be very particular about which gardening books I buy!

Then Headfry and I will go down the 'its quality that matters, not quantity' route!

I have perhaps 6 or so - some given as cast-offs, but who cares? - but when I discovered the first GYO mag on the shelf - it was the first gradening mag I actually bought for myself and have every one since! It was the first which filled a niche to cover cottage gardening, expanded to allotments - as well as seasonal recipes and small holding advice from keeping a couple of chooks, beehive to perhaps a little larger enterprise.

Good heavens GYO you should be paying me for advertising credits!

Seriously - not easy to please but know a good thing when I spot it!

The 'problem' () is with having lots of books, it seems one or two always get overlooked. Which do you wish you looked at more often?

'Grow Your Own Fruit & Vegetables' by Lawrence D. Hills is one and 'Grow Your Own Vegetables' by Roger Grounds is another - the last one has lots of extra info that each time I remember to pick it up I think 'oh thats interesting' and then soon after, forget it again! lol!

Ok, but remember it's my job...

I have 145 on my bookshelves (plus 30-odd on natural history, foraging etc) and, ahem, four more boxes looking at me from across the room, waiting for me to build more shelves.

It's not a bad addiction, though - if you've got to have one!
