My darling Grandson has visited us today and I don't know what he has done to the computer set up but now the picture on the screen and all the writing is in miniature. Does anyone know what I need to do to restore the screen to its original size?

Lesley, this might be too simple but don't know what you are running Go to the blue bar at the very top of the page and click the middle box next to the red cross. That might just be the problem. I'll be around so let me know if that works If not go for a restore point. If you don't know how to do it let me know and I'll PM instructions. It's very easy.

Alice I haven't got a red cross - in fact I haven't got back up anymore. There used to be three bars at the top of the page now there is just one. The maximise square top right now says restore and that brings the screen size slightly larger but I would guess that the font is about size 4![

can you try the System restore?
Programmes/accessories/system tools/system restore
try restoring it back to a setting from 'a bold' square - you'll see what I mean if you try it.
It 'sounds' like he's played with the settings for the video display card - the software that displays the screen. So if you think thats what it is you could try changing the settings back?To see a world in a grain of sand

LJ is it just your internet settings that are messed up? If so (as my cats often trample on the keyboard to help me out!) then go on the Internet menu bar View / Text Size.. mine is usually set to medium...Shortie

Have you tried right clicking your mouse on a clear bit of screen, go down to properties and looking at the setting for your screen etc. In there, there is a place where you can change the size of the icons, windows etc on the screen. Hope this helps

Thanks everyone - you are all great! I tried all your suggestions and the little devil had gone into properties and changed the screen size like you said Squirrel. How on earth did he do that??
I have just realised that I have let slip the fact that I am a Gran! A VERY young(ish) Gran though!![

Me thinks that there are quite a few of us 'young' grans around! I might have grey hair (had it since I was 28 or thereabouts - kept it dyed !) but only feel in my mid 30's ! How on earth am I going to cope with another 0 on the end of a birthday the year after next!

Hi Squirrel and all you other YOUNG grans out there. I would'nt worry. I've gone past that 0 you're talking about and don't feel any different. Am still doing all the things i used to do plus more and no sign of slowing down yet. Age IS only a number.
Good luck to all the young grans on this site.

You're very lucky Lesley, I would love to be a gran though past claiming the youngish age for the position, but nothing on the horizon - in fact don't see any hope. Will just have to keep making babies of my tomatoes and courgettes. Well if you don't laugh over them you don't cry over them either.
