  • Update on my week off

Quick update for you as my week off seems destined for disaster!

After the lawn-mowing shenanigans on Monday, I stupidly agreed to do three hours work on Tuesday on the condition that I got TOIL for it. Well, our main office was broken in to over the weekend and the boss asked us all to go in look at the CCTV to see if we could identify the thief. So there goes another hour.

Then I get a call whilst I'm in the office from a colleague in another office about one of my clients as she'd lost his details and couldn't finish some work without it. So I had to go home, get my client files, go back to the office and fax it over. Bang goes another hour.

Finally, I'm free and head off to the garden centre to get some compost and bits and bobs. Spend a glorious hour in there bumbling around, lovely. Then a lady comes haring in in floods of tears as she'd accidentally locked her car keys, house keys and 10 month old daughter in her car (old style locking system, not central locking). Cue another hour and a half trying to calm her down and trying various methods of popping the lock (half a tennis ball, bit of wire, steel ruler etc) and me staying with the baby and car whilst she gets a lift home to find the spare keys. I finally got in the house at 4.30pm!

Then just to cap it all off, I went to a gig in Wolverhampton last night - really looking forward to seeing the bands and having a good mosh to work off the days' frustration. First band had major power problems and had to cut their set, second band were truly atrocious and the headliners (Korn, for anyone in the know!) were absolutely terrible. The power problems persisted all night, resulting in them playing only through the backline for most of the set and they had session guitarists and a session drummer so they didn't even sound like Korn. And the final insult? I paid £30 for the priviledge!

So here's hoping the sun keeps shining and I can finally get some work done in the garden today!!!

What a bummer Everdream, sounds like a doomed day! Although the good deed was probably a weeks worth of good karma, that poor woman must have been demented at locking her own baby in the car .
For future equilibrium, never go into work on your days off, someone will always find something that you 'need' to do. And as for the disastrous gig, well, if you will go & see Korn... Hee hee hee No, seriously though, it's awful when something happens to ruin a gig you've been looking forward to for ages. Thankfully, the good ones mostly outweigh the bad, or you'd just give up!

Finally managed to get a ton of stuff done yesterday, loads of planting and sowing in tubs etc and loads of seeds sown in the greenhouse. Yay!!

Gonna finish off some herb seeds this morning, do the lawn again over lunch and get cracking on the veggie patch this afternoon.

Just freecycled the old lawn mower too, so it's all coming up roses now!
