  • I can't believe what I have just resorted to..

I am not a big fan of wanted ads on Freecycle but I have just had to post one.
My beloved Flossie (see avatar) went to visit the car doctor last week as the steering rack needed replacing (it was actually diagnosed dangerous to drive). Anyhoo, one week and four replacement steering racks later, I am still carless.

I have to collect Madmax from Cardiff airport tomorrow morning at 10 am so I have posted on Freecycle for either a lift back from the airport for one poor tired bloke, or the loan of a road legal car for a few days. Boy am I ashamed

    Thanks for letting me offload.
    Happy Gardening,
    Shirley

Well I never would've thought about a freecycle want for that - good thinking that girl! I'm sorry I'm not closer at hand to help.

Hope you get both Flossie and MM back up and running soon as poss!

    xx

Thanks girls. Can you believe someone responded and might even be able to deliver their spare car to me tonight!!! Kinda restores your faith in human nature after Gardenplot's experiences at the weekend.

Fingers crossed it works out Shirley. Why be ashamed!? You're asking for something perfectly reasonable and the majority of Freecyclers are good people who want to help!
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

Well done for biting the bullet & asking Shirley. Glad someone else is helping out where the Grapes can't reach
Hope Flossie is sorted soon, and you get Madmax home safe.

Good thinking Shirl! Hope it works out for you, and the family is soon restored
Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance

Not that I have a problem with it but as an ex-freecycle mod I know its in the rules that items have to be tangible items, ie saving landfill, so posts for services etc are strictly against the freecycle rules.

Just joined justfortheloveofit.org (freeconomy) which looks good

(by the way, I'm not saying I'm against you asking for help on freecycle, shirl - glad you got some help! )

Thanks for all your good wishes folks.

Have arranged a lot of running around to borrow mother in law's car (she works from 7.30 so it will be a really early start now). The lady who very kindly offered to help has been notified and thanked. Will be insuring and taxing a 'spare' car tomorrow and Friday so that I have my own wheels to take Madmax back to the airport on Monday.

                    Too much hassle!!!

Turns out poor old Flossie has been bodged about somewhere along the line (odd since I am the second owner and have the full history) and has had a non-original steering rack fitted. This will all now be returned to original glory over the next week or so.
