  • my A&E experiance

    hey all

well what a day i had yesterday

was at work useing a wood/tree chipper and was putting in a large branch and well it bounced quite a lot when it hit the blades inside and it dislocated my thumb about 90o from my normal position

i screamed like a girl that is for sure and i was glad that my son was not there as a few chosse words where said

well i managed too put it back myself with and the help off the first aider strapped it and went on to a diffrent job

when i got home a few hours later it was throbbing so my wife told me to go to A&E and get it checked out

when i was there they X-rayed it and then the wait started but when i got to the nurse after the X-ray she examined the X-ray and my thumb and said it was just bruiseing and to keep moveing it and it will get better

so i said my thankyous and set off to asda for a bit off tea

whilst there Helen my wife at home got a phone call from the hospitul asking me to return as there has been a mistake and i have fratcred (sp) my thumb :threaten:

when i got back the nurse was realy sorry and could not say sorry a nuff so i just said that accidents happen and that is why i am here in the first place and she plastered me up

so i am now unable to go to go to work as i am unable to lift and stuff so i am off today

so i hope today gets better than yesterday

    regards

    matt

Oh dear- that sounds painful Matt!
Clever you though putting it back into place- I bet that hurt even more??!!!

Look on the bright side- you've got time to sort out your fruit/flower/veg growing - lots of lists....and then a willing driver with a cheque book!
I hope it's not your right hand ( if you are right-handed)??

Oweeoweeoweeowee!! Every sympathy with you m8 - I spontaneously dislocate in my knees and hips so I know what it feels like! Been doing it for 20 years and it still hurts like a <insert choice of blasphemy here>!!!

The last time I did my knee, I just thought it was a bit sorer than normal. Three days later I went to casualty to check it out just in case as it was still swollen and sore and it turned out I'd severed the ligaments!

                Hope you feel better soon!

Ouch Matt! You are brave re-locating it yourself, that's an agony in itself.
Hope it's feeling better today. If there's no broken skin whack some witch hazel on it and get yourself some arnica (homeopathy) for the trauma - it works beautifully.

Hazel? Its witch hazel you're after (loon!) Get a bottle from the chemist, wrap your hand in something soft and absorbant - cotton wool is good and pour on the witch hazel as frequently as poss, will help with the bruising.
