I've read that this is the wettest drought in history and I tend to agree. I've got some unplanted plastic containers outside without drainage holes and I seem to be emptying 1/2 inch of 'drought' out of them every day. We went to a barbecue on Saturday and my friends have a hosepipe ban, if they watered their garden anymore it would float down river it's that wet.
move to the south,we havent had any hail...plenty of rain though...
id just say invest in a good rain coat. thats what i did. got fed up of not going outside.
That same hail storm passed over manchester today as well Elmo Makes you wonder, its neally June and today the outside temps reached 12c. Here's hoping that June is a month of sun
Have it on good authority from the BBC that it will stop on Wednesday and be much warmer after that. Counting on it. We too have had the rain and temps in the region of 12 degrees when the seasonal average should be 17. Hasn't stopped things growing though - especially the weeds !
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.
down here in 'sunny' sussex, it hasn't stopped raining. we had hail, thunder and lightening yesterday. My lettuces are swimming and my empty pots are full of water...very miserable. On a good note tho, my allotment is growing like mad, so shouldn't complain too much!
My allotment to wet to plant anything else out.I've got plants all over house and in mini greenhouse waiting to go in.Dug holes to plant squash n pumpkin, and they filling up with water. You would think we had an under ground stream!!!Forcast last night...clear but cold..what happened??Rain hail ALL night plus cold.Ahhhh.Chap on allotment who has been there for 10years said he never seen anything like it.Really feel like giving up.
Never known a May like it! I went on the allotment on Saturday and it was too wet to hoe and too wet to dig! At home I have got Primo Cabbage in trays in 2 inches of water and 2 foot high. (Shall I try Permaculture??!!)
Slugs the size of submarines!
It's actually stopped here, I actually had time to go and make some slats for my mini greenhouse, I can sleep safe knowing the trays won't just plummet through the rails. Its been lovely today, but can it last?
The sun is out today!!!Please let it last.Only problem is,I not well enough to go to allotment so my better half has been planting everything out(I dont think anything been hardened off properley yet but he's doing the planting for me, so better keep quiet, else nothing will get done!)
Summer has arrived up here and the weather has been ace today - the forecast says it's to get warmer as the week goes on - just in time to plant out my french and runner beans for the moon gardening experiment !
