  • Eco-Warrior Pope

I've just read that the Pope has declared that causing environmental damage is to be considered a sin by the Catholic church. I don't want this to become a religious discussion as it's not the place, but as he is the spiritual leader of millions and is certainly someone whose views are respected, this has to be a step in the right direction. I'm not Catholic, and I don't know how this declaration might help, but anyone who takes this stand certainly has my full support.

It could be the first useful thing he's ever said!

Did you know he has his own private veggie garden, to keep him in fresh produce? Here's a pic from the top of St Peter's

Wealth is a new sin, so does that mean the church will give up theirs?

Starting war is also a sin.
Tony Blair has just become a Catholic.

there is of course no connection.

              Now isnt that odd.

If he was a catholic he could not have been prime minister....

Strange that his kids are catholic and went to the London Oratory School the bigest Catholic School in London with the strictist addmitance code in the country. Odd how they got places without their dad being in the faith???????????

Now, now everyone. This is not how I wanted this to go. I accept that the great and the good are often not all they should be, but on the rare occasions when one of them seems to be making the effort, I think we should encourage them. Interesting about the Vatican lotties. I suppose I could now give in to temptation and run a competition for the best suggestion on papal veg varieties.....but who'd judge it?

The Pope has my utmost approval even if I'm not a Catholic or a Christian for that matter, a pagan actually . Anything to make people wake up to their responsibilities to planet earth as there are only so much resources for the expanding global population.

Absolutely, it's got to be a good thing. I wonder if there's any chance he'll see the connection between the environment, rising populations and his attitude to birth control?

Definitely not this pope. He is entrenched in the past By the way, the pope can't just decide that something is a sin just because he says so, but i have to agree its a step in the right direction giving his approval to the enviornment..
