I've just been to count the dogs but they keep running about and I lose count We've also got two horses, (Storm : Irish Draught X Connamara and Cysgod : Welsh Cob) and two cats (George and Socks) who patrol the outbuildings looking for rodents (or anything else tasty) and four chooks (all called chuck chuck).

                    OK, here goes

2 dogs, Boo and Max (Boo is Max's mum) Might be worth mentioning that at 8 months, Max is now bigger than his mum.
2 cats, Puss and Little Puss
                    An african land snail

And on the plot we have 17 chooks, all are named chook, or missus, whichever I feel like calling them, exceprt the light sussex who is Lauren's pet and is named Sassy

Should have mentioned.....the other half works as a freelance animal Nutritional Advisor, she is fully trained and qualified (Veterinary Nurse, and animal nutrition diploma thingy). If you want any advice (more cats and dogs than anything else) then PM me and i'll give you her contact details.

Should also have said that at the moment we have Isaac (15 year old Staffie cross)

and three goldfish at he moment although we are looking to expand our little homestead with some birds. Initially thought about Chickens although we are now looking at Pheasants/Guinea Fowl/Quail......will post in the Poultry forum. Possibly some Guinea Pigs as well and maybe Hedgehogs if we can get some rehoming details.

We have just the three elderly cats, all adopted last years, Sam (19 almost 20) Gala (just coming up 16) and Jessica, 13 going on 2. J's not animal person at all but she just loves all three of them and they have made a huge difference to our lives - and it means I don't have to go back to the UK if I don't want to as I have to look after the cats.

Postponed the beehives AGAIN whilst we have some more trees taken down this year but definately looking at the best place for a chicken run, will do that later in the year for sure now - and another good reason (not a man excuse) for having to stay here and not go back to visit relatives of course.

And we have access to 5 shire horses, a couple of ponies and about 120 free range piggies at our chums farm so all in all, plenty of animals in our lives.

We are waiting for a hedgehog from our local wildlife rescue centre, they were too small to hibernate this year, so will probably be in the spring when we get one. The only criteria is they wont let anyone have one if there are badgers around.

We had cockatiels in the past - lovely interesting birds. One was called Chibbie (anyone read Longfellow? - And the gentle Chibiabos, he the sweetest of all singers...), the other came to us as a rescue bird. She had been found by a family who kept her for a while but they had dogs and cats and couldn't let her out so offered her to us. Their kids had called her Magic but we called her Molly. (Dark eyed Molly - song reference)
