I worked with my OH for a year and then I woke up one day and thought, "you're rather nice actually!"

We went for a drink on the Tuesday, saw each other again on the Thursday and that was that! We celebrated (well, actually both of us forgot) our third anniversary last weekend.

I think online courting/dating can work and I've met several people who have found their partners this way. In certain circumstances, you might find a Jewish man looking for good Jewish woman for marriage or an Indian man settled in the US looking for an Indian bride who is as westernised as him and brought up in any western countries like UK or Australia etc but not necessarily from India and these may be more appropriate/useful if you're an ethnic minority in a foreign country. Obviously these may be arranged via specialist online match making services with specific requirements for their clients looking for partners from specific cultural/racial, educational, professional backgrounds. The internet could be a global place for marriage prospecting.

Having said that, my poor neighbour have had 2 series of disasterous Russian or Eastern European brides arranged via the internet service. His 1st bride fell out with him involving the local police over a domestic dispute (turns out she had involved another British husband previously with similar consequences) and his 2nd bride was only after the British citizenship/passport who eventually left him (everyone here thought she was too young and gorgeous for him).

I think you can find yourself a suitable future partner but you can also get some shady characters but you'll know which ones to avoid unless you're like my neighbour.

My hubby is the worst one night stand i ever had he still aint gone home .i went out one night got very drunk and when i sobered up (some 6 months later) we were married . But that was 7 yrs ago so not all bad. I never mastered the internet dating coz i can't type when i'm drinkin .
I'd rather regret the things i've done than regret not doing them at all.

Haven't got an OH! Divorced the legal one some 10 years ago, and apart from one disastrous relationship that's been it. Did meet a bloke from this forum when he came to pick up some stuff I advertised on Freecycle. He came to the lottie to collect and walked all over my seedlings, so that was that.

I think if you get lucky, it can be a wonderful way for people with next to no social life (that would be me ) to meet others. There do seem to be a lot of players out there though
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

                      'Players'? How romantic that sounds!

At least (to a certain extent) on the Net you've got to converse a little and are probably doing so over a common interest? Yeah, really I'm only surprised we ain't had some Grape 'marriages' already - or are you all to shy? Perrhaps we should ask for a new Forum 'Grape meets Grape'?

Yep, I met my OH in a chatroom, I lived in Brighton and he lived here in Scunthorpe. I spent a few months doing 500 miles round trip at weekends to see him until I smashed my ankle up while here and got stuck Been almost 5 years now

We also met in a chatroom! Never looked backed, bit strange though because I never use chatrooms like that, but a pop up advert popped up so to speak on my screen advertising one, so for some strange reason I logged on as a guest, the 1st room I entered obviously my guest name appeared and Mr C logged on straight after. I said Hiya and that was that, spent from 8pm that night until 5am the following morning chatting on msn! Pretty much the same for the next 7 days 'til we met a week later. We moved in 3 months later, have been together over 2 years now and are getting married this year! Ahhhhhhhh! I believe in fate!
