Quick Rugby Question....

Why do some players have all that tape stuff around their heads, but not around the ears..?

I know some cover the ears to stop them being torn off, but tonight Jamie Noone (england) had it around his head for no obvious reason to me. I'm sure there is a reason, just wondered what..?

They put the tape over their ears to prevent cauliflower ears rather than to stop them being ripped off tho many forwards get splits at the tops of their ears from the scrum, hence scrum caps - I remember the splits and cuts all too well. Quite often howdays players use bandage and tape to cover stitched/stapled cuts from the previous week/s rather than to protect their ears.

So what else can we think of? Cauliflower ears, parsnip willie, carrot nose?

I think TonyF and PigletWillie have it cracked. Generally if not used to cover the ears, it's just to cover up stitches from the previous game.

I was at a friend's house watching the games, and at one point there was a great shot of Phil Vickery's ears to which she went " uuuurrrrrr, look at his ears!!".
