  • T.V. Gardeners...I'm on to you.

I watched TV last night, something of an event as I usually watch less in a decade than most people see in a week. Anyway, there was a programme on UKTV gardens called Grow Your Own Veg, so I thought, why not? I thought it would be all perfect rows of lettuces and poles dripping with beans....and it was. Definitely put my plot to shame, but at least now I know where I've been going wrong. No, nothing to do with manure or double digging; if you want the perfect plot you simply have to view it from about a foot above soil level. That way the sun shines through the bean-leaves, the carrot fronds are gently waving forests and any plants which have dark foliage, such as beetroot, take on a beautiful sheen. Telly gardeners aren't better than us, they can just take advantage of helpful camera angles. Now I just have to find a way of seeing my lottie from that level and I'll be a great gardener too. Suppose I sat on a skateboard?
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

Take a bottle of vodka to the lottie - that'll help!

I watched it too, it's on at 2000 and at then it's repeated the next day at 1600.

It was good to see that her carrots got decimated by the carroot root fly as well, proves even the experts can have problems sometimes, especially as she had even covered them in fleece.

Bluemoon, at 5'2" I pretty much get that view all the time. If you can't be a short *rse like me though, yes, the suggestion of a bottle of Vodka may help. At least with that everything will look fab anyway!

There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. Don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it in your future.

Oh, TV gardeners - gave me a scare.

I thought you'd spotted me watering the seedlings in my little black dress.

is that going to be another project for the GYO mag? or are the publishing company moving towards a more "specialist" market?

I get through quite a few pairs of tights as it happens.... I use them for tying fruit trees to their support stakes
