I know it's getting off the subject a wee bit here it may even have been mentioned earlier, I was kind of losing the will to live at some points so I didn't exactly read everything but has anyone actually tried growing the herb Rue in their garden to get deter cats ? Supposedly this is why it always used to be grown - it's not edible, a dyestuff, or decorative, it just has a smell that humans barely notice but cats hate, so once upon a time it was planted where opening the garden gate would brush it and release the scent.
Or maybe this is an urban myth, like the "They get scared by their reflections in the water bottle - that's why you never see them in supermarkets" idea...
