  • what to use to write on wooden tags?

I got myself some very nice large (slightly larger than a ruler, about 10" long) oak plant tags on sale recently at a local craft fair (£2 for 5, most places seem to be £5 for 5). The question is, what should I use to write on them??! I was planning on using them just to mark out the basic types of veg on my lottie, with smaller tags for variety names (the oversize wooden lolly sticks they sell for kids crafts, actually , so they don't HAVE to be re-writable/editable, though it would be nice

DVD markers are a good thing to use. I've started to use very small plant pots, terracotta, 80 cents at my local brico shed and put them on a stick, upside down, with the information written on the outside.

      Hi Tony!
Sounds like a good idea- do you find that snails and other pests/good insects sleep inside the little pots?
I bet they look nice too!

Nicos, saw the idea in a French gardening magazine and thought ........

What a good idea, can even reuse them next year for the peas and beans and stuff.

I'll probably stuff them with straw so I can trap any varmints inside them.

I guess I am lucky as I have piles of oak offcuts I can slice up....A business opportunity if I had time?!...I use a sharpie marker.

For little tags I cut up Ice cream tub lids(throw them away at the end of the year as they perish)

definitely paulottie, wooden tags are so much nicer
i use recycled plastic tags inside, but the damn things always blow away/get dug into the soil outside, as as they never break down id prefer not to use them.
