    Just like to say that.

We put the taps back on yesterday. One of the old boys spent the winter, putting new washers on reseating them and giving them a bit of a tarting up. Two of us went round and put them on.....Sack fulls of them. We have 430 is plots and there is one tank with 2 taps per tank for every 4 plots. Gets a call today......"NO TAPS"...some git has gone rount last night and knicked them ALL. Then ripped the roof of one of the sheds.

How much is a second hand tap worth?

There are some right w@nkers out there. And it's not like the job of 5 minutes. Someone must have spent ages removing each one.

It took ages to put them on so it must have took ages to take them off as well then clime over a 10ft wall with barbed wire on the top with a sack of taps on your back. Pity we didnt get a chance to turn the water back on before they did it.

How maddening, the two legged pest is worse than the all the other pests put together on the allotment - perhaps they will sell them for scrap? We have similar problems with morons on our plots - we are working with our community police to get higher gates and fences but you will never stop them.
If they strip my pear tree again for the third year running I shall go mad!

Don`t know if i should say this but.......
About 25 years ago(when i was 11) myself and some friends broke in to some allotments.
We stole as i remember carrots, potatoes and pears which we washed with the taps that were on the site. As i remember it we were very careful not to tread on the other crops as we were lifting the carrots and spuds and picking the pears.
On the way home we ate the carrots and pears and made up some cock and bull story when we arrived home to present Mum with some potatoes.

Not that i am condoning in any way that what we did was right(i certainly know now that it was not) but the difference now is that these young pillocks break in to allotments purely with the idea of destruction and wouldn`t know a carrot from a pear.

            Sorry, Minty (feeling rather naughty)

we lost all our taps 3 times last summer, dont know if they're gonna replace them this year!!!!
Then last week some kind souls pickaxed the roof of the tool store & stole the petrol strimmers
seems we're on the radar of the local scumbags

Its not the cost of the stuff that annoys me but the trouble of buying new ones and fitting them.

I'm not what you'd call technical, but don't you need tool thingies to remove taps? You know spanners or something? If so then not only has someone pinched them, but they've gone on your site with the necessary equipment.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

So how did someone know all the taps had only just gone back on. Stinks of an inside job.

                        Hmmph....very irritating!

On our previous allotment site the gypsies kicked in the taps ( I think there were about 4 taps) and left the water to pour out .
Such a mess with all that water ( clay soil)- but they didn't bother nicking the taps!

Reading your post, has made me very angry....If i got hold of them I hate to think what I would do, I know one thing they would sure as heck have a phobia about taps!

I am so sorry that this has happened, have you told the police?
They might be after scrap metal, Mr HF had problems getting to work the other week, some nasty 'person' has nicked a huge metal manhole cover and left a gaping hole in the road. could had killed a bike rider!
