World Cup fever?

I wish we had a Great British team just like when we compete in the olympics but now as Mr Blair has devolved everywhere that is unlikely to happen which is a shame.

Rat, to stop the media banging on only about England your Welsh and Scottish teams need to pull your fingers out and qualify for a tournament once in a while, actually when did you last qualify for one?

Actually I am a rugby boy and you both have world class teams there which is nice to see as do the Irish who manage to combine both north and south for that but not for soccer, strange.

Personally I am British first and English second and am proud to be in a Kindom with Ireland, Scotland and Wales, the combination of which really is "Great Britain"

There was some idiot who stated that if the England team that wins then it should be hailed as a British victory, but if we lose then it should be seen as an English defeat - what a pile of ****!!

Why are the English the only nation who are expected to be ashamed of who they are & why can we not expect support from our supposed nearest & dearest - ie Wales,Scotland & Ireland... we certainly don't have the view that should Scotland get through to a tournament that we will support their opponents - but when all the anti England rubbish gets bandied about it is tempting to do so. By the was the Paraguay team got total backing from their close neighbours ie the Mexican Ref!

It is only a football tournament and this is a gardening forum. If any of you want to argue about the world cup go to a football forum - there are plenty to choose from.

Healthy debate is good for the thread. As long as there is no name calling then the tread can carry on.
Sport is all about competition. Competition keeps your body healthy and the gray cells working. Having said that growing vegetables also keeps you healthy.

Didn't see all of your game but caught the last twenty minutes and therefore the goals, but seriously, the performances leave a lot to be desired - at least now your guys can relax a little as the pressure is off them for a wee while - unless the media get on their backs (again). What is the point in SGE banning the team from reading newspapers when each player has an internet connected laptop in their room - they can all read (or can they ?) - or do they just look at pictures ?
