Just got back from Wales, it's been a glorious week away We were absolutely blessed with the weather - only one day of wind/rain, the rest of the time it was dry & quite sunny, & even hit 17°c yesterday! We've been staying in a cottage on the coast near New Quay (Wales Cottage Holidays - Property Details - Cottage near New Quay) with a big natural garden, with a stream running through it and a fantastic view out to the sea.
Visited a great National Trust property yesterday National Trust | Llanerchaeron to look around the restored walled kitchen garden. It was marvellous, some step-over apple trees so old and covered in lichen & moss that ferns were growing on them, but there was still new shoots & leaves sprouting off them! I'd love to volunteer in a place like that (or own it!)
The only 2 down-falls to the week were that the TV reception was pants (& no Sky or Freeview) and mobile signal was only available in the conservatory, if you held your phone left-handed & pointing North.... So evenings were a bit tedious once the kids were in bed. We played a lot of gin rummy! And also, I broke my toe yesterday, stubbing it into a chair leg... Definately broken - it went all black round the bottom of me toe So I spent the NT visit hobbling around with a stick bought in their shop I didn't bother with the hospital - they don't do owt for broken toes do they? And I've got enough pain-killers & anti-inflammataries (sp?) for a whole battalion anyway.
Anyhoo, I'm glad to be back - my plants & seedlings have survived ok under the care of our friend Bob, but I'm itching to get repotting & sowing
And although I could read the 'Vine on my phone, it wouldn't let me post at all, so I'll probably waffle you all to sleep for the next few days!
