Hello everyone - have really missed being on here as I have had guests (Mum, Sis and Neice) here since Monday so not been able to get on. They have gone now and its lovely to have the house to myself today. Managed to get a bit of gardening done with my gardening Grandad, Joe and DS had a little nap so we had a peaceful time out there too. Trouble is I feel sooo sad as DD went back down to London with my Sister to stay for a night with her and then two nights with my MIL (her Nanny) I still have DS here but I miss DD soooo much already. I cannot wait until Saturday when we join DD down in London for a family birthday and can only hope the company here will keep me going till then.

I'm assuming DD is one of your little ones although on here it could be anything from someone's dog to someone's cabbage seedlings that they are missing! Take advantage of the peace & quiet & the chance to do some gardening, I'm sure normal service will be resumed soon!

To reiterate - enjoy the peace!! My DD went for a holiday for week with her aunties over Easter and while I missed her, it was so nice having time to myself.

Over New Years, I had my first night with NO children in 13 years.... My sisters took them to stay at my Uncle's for a couple of days, and although it was slightly odd it was also utter bliss! Not one "Mu-u-u-um, he's...." for 2 whole days!
(People who moan about being on call 24/7 should try being on duty 365/13 !!)

Im really struggling with all these abbreviations, what on earth does OH mean for example. Im of the texting generation apparently and Ive only just found out what lol means. I thought it was a typo for ages.
My girls are only little, 5 and 7. I cant imagine ever being away from them infact the idea that they will grow up and I might not see them for weeks on end makes me feel sick. I try to give my girls freedom and Im not one of those bonkers parents that doesnt let my children go on school trips but I will spend the day worried to death not able to concentrate all day.
Just a little question to parents of older kids do you ever stop worrying every second of the day? Or is it only going to get worse?
Im not looking forward to the teenage years.

As to the worrying thing, if you're already a worrier, you'll likely stay a worrier My OH stresses himself all the time our kids are out, even if they're just playing with friends across the road... I'm fairly pragmatic, I only start worrying if they don't answer their phones, or don't come in when they say they will. I was out & about on my own from the age of 8 & no mobiles then either. Nowt ever happened to me, so can't see why it should to my kids! (And contrary to popular belief there are no more child abductions etc now than there was 20 - 30 years ago, they're just more widely reported now)

Ah thanks for that, Ive been puzzling about OH for a while.
I aggree that the world is no more dangerous. I just worry a lot! I do think there is a big problem these days with children not playing out and it is interesting that a child is statistically more likely to have an accident in the house than they are outside playing.
I think in the present climate and the fact that the world and society have gone mad people are clinging to the little control they have and when it comes to your kids it means keeping an eye on them 24/7.
I personally would never go to these lengths but would anybody consider fitting kids with homing devices or chipping them?
