Mr D works for Tescos, and when they replace the perspex he gets it for free, recycling it to make rabbit proof fencing, windbreaks and cloches on our plots, so it may be an idea to ask at your local supermarket to see if they would save it for you? (Half the greenhouses on our plot have some of it used to replace broken glass etc)

The only bad point about it is its a nightmare to cut!

My OH uses a grinder to cut perspex on the rare occasions I have been able to get hold of some. Tried jigsaw, but it got ugly!!

The yellow police tape could be handy for scaring birds - tied on stakes across the top of beds....

point open end away from prevailing wind and make timber frame to fit open end and cover in polythene, job done.

Just had a thought we could go and rescue the shelter (bolt croppers cordless drills etc) and if we were questioned we could just look really surprised and say we taking it down for cleaning it will be back at the end of the week! What's not to believe, hey?!!!!
