I wonder how many grapevine forum users are registered on Saga Zones?

I started using it last year because I wanted to expand my social circle. However it hasn't been very successful for me. What experiences have other had?

It wasn't a total disaster as I did make one friend. We both belong to the same U3A and we're both WI members. Although we live within a few miles of each other we go to different ones. We both have Facebook profiles. I became bored as it wasn't quite my style but while friend is a regular user as she loves playing Scrabulous.

Interested to read your post, I've just had an email from Saga telling me all about SagaZones, but I haven't looked - they are running a pet portrait competition. To be honest my car insurance was with Saga and they write to me about once a week asking if there is anything else I want insured - they are worse than the Readers Digest for pestering. I will not be renewing the car insurance with them (gone to Age Concern instead - cheaper), and I hope in a year or two they will forget my address.

Sorry - wildly off subject there, but no, I haven't. I've never got into Facebook either, I have nothing against it but I am afraid I would spend too long there. My OH refers to the people on any thread like this as 'imaginery friends' - he has some as well! I think Facebook would just result in me never getting into the garden (or the ironing, or anything else).

I keep hearing good things about Scrabulous though.

Don't worry, I don't think you'd get addicted to Facebook. Unless of course you love playing scrabble and then you'd never go into your garden again.

Phone Saga up and tell them to take you off their mailing lists. I did that and it worked. I receive the monthly magazine and that's all.

I agree with Jacob, I joined and became so frustrated with some of the people on there I decided to give it up - but some of the gardening threads were interesting.
