Just a thought, I know that Walkers crisps make Asda's own make, the same pharmaceutical company who makes Ambre Solaire makes Malibu suntan lotion, all at a fraction of the price. The extra charge for these leading brands are for packaging surely? Any others out there? Yours views? Started this thread because I bought a cheap washing powder from local store (all they had) 99p for the standard pack and it's no different from what I've been using and costs a lot less!

They are brill. You don't need any softener but there is no smell whatsoever to them which is a bit disconcerting when you are used to the super strong smell of washing! I use about 6 drops of essential oil on the little bag you put them in and the washing smells of this. Yum. And you can change the smell to suit your mood!
I have been using my small box for about 8 weeks and am only about a 6th down it. I use about 6 nuts and they do me about 3 loads. I still have to use stain remover for baby sick etc (nice) but the ecover one does the job well enough.
I now find it a bit overpowering when I smell people's washing powder on them... who says a clean smell has to be persil? lol I can even smell nextdoors washing from my garden, now that's got ot be softener overload!

In my student days I had a holiday job in a cake factory. We made 'Exceedigly good' cakes, M&S and for a local bakery. Their own brand (Mr Kipling's exceedings) was dearer than the others (yes, even M&S) and M&S had theit own quality control people in each day. The cakes came down the production line and only when the M&S folks said it was good enough, we changed the wrapper and wrapped for them.Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.
