I just read elsewhere that a new 'invention' allows for DVDs to self destruct (wipe themselves) after 24hrs. This is being hailed as a breakthrough as it means that couch potatoes will now be able to rent a film and not have the bother of having to return it to the rental shop.....they can simply chuck it into landfill with all their plastic bags and the next person who wants to rent it gets a new one all of their very own. I despair!

I notice there's a 'recycling' proposal but really, how many people would bother?

"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

How bazaar.
I think that in a few years renting hard copies of DVD's will be obsilite. We will all be renting over the internet by downloading films that only save temporarily, tranferring to a usb stick or other external memory device or by having the tv hooked up to the net you can just watch direct on you TV. Thats how I see the future of renting. However with the advent of TV on demand renting full stop may be a thing of the past as you can choose whatever you want on packages like sky plus and virgin anyway. Making my reply pointless mumble mumble............Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and good with ketchup!
