What REALLY makes my blood boil is this fad for saying "How (insert adjective here) is that?" For example: "How good is that?"

My OH gets very upset when people use the word "literally" in the wrong context. As in, "He caught a fish, it was literally as big as his leg." What does that mean, anyway??

                "I hear what you're saying".......truth - oh shut up I'm not listening.

Referring to someone as 'pal', 'chum', 'friend' ......when it quite clear that the opposite applies - usually moments before decking them!

Having worked in an American company - various Americanisms/phrases which those 'creeping' (brown nose leading) up the promotion ladder latch onto to impress the bosses - eg 'ballpark'

And many, many more - to many to mention here - "oh don't get me going"!

There - now I've annoyed someone!

My kids hate it when I tell them to' pick their feet up ' they always say how can I do that, or try to and end up falling over. I just cant bear it when people drag their feet I have to stop myself from saying anything to strangers esp other peoples kids.

I love winding people up with this - 'just give me a ballpoint figure' is one I like! Nasty bit of work, me!

I thought this was funny on Gavin & Stacy

My OH hates expressions like (pause while I make my fingers do the rabbit ear 'quotes' gesture - sorry Flum, couldn't resist) ...'twenty-four-seven' and 'light and airy' in the context of property programmes- well, the rooms got air in it , yes.

I had a boss who always said 'pacific' and 'pacifically'...I had to resign!!

                            'Obviously' - I hate it....'
Obviously' we don't want to, 'obviously' it was a long walk.....

to whom is it obvious, it may not be obvious to me, please don't say it!

Why do people 'stuff/pad out' their sentences with junk words....
'you know what I mean', 'basically', 'obviously', 'like', and so many more!
and 'whatever' they might as well say I am bored with this conversation, and cant be bothered to talk to you any longer, so they say say 'whatever' it is so rude.

                              Great thread.

The one that I really hate is when people say, 'See you later then.' Why do people say that when they know they wont see me later?

We have a dude at work who, when you say goodbye of an evening will say "see you there Wayne". Does make me chuckle, how would I be in two places at once?
