peanuts

Each year I try to grow some fruit from seed bought to eat, had success with grapefruit /orange/ lemon. last year i tried peanuts got them to flower then i expected a shoot to bury it's self in the ground but nothing happened.
? do you need to buy a peanut plant to have success.
