  • What are you going to do today?

Well, the weather man was right! It's pouring it down! I was going to go back to the lottie and do a bit of weeding - but not now.

Suppose I ought to look on the bright side, all this rain will be good for the plants I planted out yesterday. Guess I'll have a potter around the greenhouse instead.

If I get really bored, guess I could do some housework, or even worse -ironing!!

What are your plans for today?

I was going to get down the plot and do some more planting - I wanted to get some carrots in, but the soil is far too damp, so instead I've just updated our blog, then I'm planning on sowing some more seeds in the greenhouse, do some potting on, a quick trip to the plot to water in the greenhouse (and check all ou babies are still doing well), and then I'm going to use some more of the fresh leeks from the plot in a goulash (along with some frozen veg from last years crops)

If I get through all of that, then I may just pop Mr D's PS3 on for a bit - there's a great FRPG on there where you can wander around the countryside and pick herbs and flowers (that look just like the real flowers and herbs too) to make potions with! Nothing like a bit of virtual gardening when its too wet to do the real thing!

I am going to sow my cosmos (I know really late this year for sowing indoors but still), peas, carrots, lettuce and anything else not had time for. Got a nice joint of pork from local butcher - will do fresh apple sauce with it. Then to see if there is enough rhubarb for a pud and Hannah wants to make cakes. I must get some admin sorted but then it will be in garden (if weathers holds) for a good old potter. Mind you we could do with some more rain as spuds still havent made an apprearance and they need to soon before Daniel makes mud pies from the mounds! Oliver has decided to build another composting station having realised that he does need to turn 1st heap - he can then turn it from one to other so thats his job for the day!

I've spent the morning planning a June trip to Brighton for our anniversary (today)

The forecast is cloudy but dry, so i'll make a packed lunch and go off to lottie till teatime again.

Pottering about; sowing sweetcorn and next batch of peas; then off to buy some tools for the lottie to put in our new shed; plus a padlock of course!

Made cooked breakfast for the pair of us, then walked up to the shops to get a paper. LadyWayne's just reading how my car tax will go up massively as of next year, so we're off out this afternoon to look at my next car (next year). Then we'll come back, I'll mow the lawn, we'll have a spot to eat then I'll jetwash the drive.

Might then just settle down in front of the telly with a glass of something red.

Nice to have a bit of a relaxing day after yesterdays work (see blog later).

Actually I fancy stopping at a pub somewhere for a spot of lunch and a pint of ale!

gt up early for once and went to big carboot near here (hemswell, for those in lincs), glad we got there early as it was absolutely packed, got a subwoofer and speakers for OH's PC for a fiver though

home via aldi and morrisons, cooking some pasta now for lunch, and then i might potter about in the garden - want to get bulbs plunked in the front garden, get the strawberries in their final home (trough planters), and pot up various things inc herbs, aubergines and tomatoes.

had great plans to weed the small gravel areas at the front of my house - the gravel is soooo deep the weeds just take hold constantly! However it's started to chuck it down (shock and horror ) so am now indoors on the Vine...the sky looks like it may brighten...so I'll just wait and see!

I was a happy bunny as they sold really well and I (with all the advice and help of this forum ..You guys) found myself givining out advice on growing. Made enough to get me more supplies and pay back oh for all the compost I have used this year...oh so happy

                            Well done Helly.

It was raining here this morning so we were glad the shed got its new roof yesterday!!! Had a wander round the local Sunday market after dropping Mk1 son at work. I have been busy taming the laundry mountain that never seems to go down any (any other mum's know that feeling?)

Sun coming out now and Madmax is putting replacement parts on the car and I am desperately wanting to get out and dig the rubbishy soil out in the bed near the house where I used to have heathers. The aim is to put some fresh multi-purpose compost in there and grow salad crops and herbs (close enough to water regularly and pick when needed). Also hoping to get some spuds in the ground but since Madmax has a huge list of indoor chores for me I don't suppose they will be planted today
                            Happy Gardening,
                            Shirley

Horrible here, seems such a shame after such a lovely day yesterday. Ran out to the shed between rain storms and brought a load of pots and compost into the house and have just been potting on my tomatoes and a few chillies. Noticed that some of my peppers are about to flower - all very exciting and definitely earlier than last year. Had hoped to finish off clearing / weeding a couple of beds but don't need them for a couple of weeks anyway. May go and get the dripper system out of the shed which I use to auto water in the greenhouse and give it a good clean in sterilising fluid - not particularly exciting but still beats housework!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
