Oooh, I know the guy who runs Cambridge Freecycle (and help him out when he can't get it done for any reason) - I've never seen an Aga on it, but you'd be amazed what comes up. Also, you can set it to "daily digest", so you get digest mails that collate several messages, rather than getting your inbox flooded - or even set it to just view on the web, and not get any mails.

We moved ours by using three pieces scaff pole cut into 1.50m ish lengths; lift an end and put two poles underneath at more or less each end and push, as one poles falls out the end put the 3rd under the front etc etc etc also to make it lighter to lift remove the doors and the cover for the hot plates, belive me this helps; have loads of Fun!!!!!!!!!!!

And we wonder why we think the youth of today are inarticulate and lacking manners and social grace!

We bought our solid fuel rayburn from wales, As for moving it my brother is a removal man he took 3 blokes with him and they took off all doors and removable parts and moved it on a piano trolley (said he'd never do it again!).
You need to be really careful because cast iron can crack really easily. Good luck and enjoy

Forgot to say in my indignation at that persons posting, well done indeed. I got a gas fired Rayburn free (which will be installed soon) and had to move it myself. Borrowed a landrover, took everything off it that could be removed, a few scaffold boards and some hefty chaps got it in. Took it to France and basically did the same in reverse. Didnt have to move it far either time, but was rather heavy. Did it though!! Good luck.

I signed up a couple of days ago, and my in-box seems permanently full of 'toot.' I think the only thing people in Essex are giving away at the moment is stuff they can't be bothered to take to the tip!

Now I've actually dug my veg beds, I'm looking for some timber edging, hence my foray into the world of Freecycle. But, it's early days, and I guess I'll be made to eat my words - usually happens!

Anyway, well done to you, If I was nearer I would offer the use of Husband/Landy/Trailer/Pallet truck. Sorry! X

But ~ that's why Freecycle was started: to stop things going to the dump. Things that perhaps need a little TLC.
Buyer beware, as in all things.
