Read the other day about someone finding a war medal in garden. Has anyone lost or found anything valuable or interesting in their garden or allotment?

when on honeymoon, nearly 41 years ago,we were sitting on the sand,i gently shook my hand as my wedding ring was a bit loose,i just wanted to test it out, bear in mind i only had it on a couple of days, and was getting used to wearing a ring, when all of a sudden it flew of ,you can imagine what i felt like, well to cut the story short,we left then returned later, and i found it myself amongst the sand,we could not beleive it,i cryed with relief,is hard to believe even today, someone must have been watching over us.Last edited by lottie dolly; 10-05-2008, 06:39 PM.sigpicAnother nutter ,wife, mother, nan and nanan, love my growing places, seed collection and sharing, also one of these

Oh, and joy - my neighbour Carol found the camera battery that I lost on Tuesday (It slipped out of my hands into grass - I spent 2 hrs searching, inc.pulling out and digging out all the grass. OH had a good look too) I just mentioned it to Carol, who said "what's it look like?" I said yay big and white, how could you miss it in green grass ... and she said "what like that?" and picked it up, two foot away from where I dropped it.

About forty odd years ago i got married and moved into a house that used to be a transport cafe many years before i was diggind in the the garden one day and a female head popped over the fence saying if you find a engagment ring it is mine i lost it when throwing some scraps to the fowl 30 years ago .
About 6 months later i found it and did not say anything to the lady but later on when i saw her husband i showed it to him and said is this your good ladys he said it was and i gave it to him and he had it cleaned at the jewelers and we gave it back to the lady one night at a party the look on her face priceless .
so if you lose any thing keep looking jacobWhat lies behind us,And what lies before us,Are tiny matters compared to what lies Within us ...

My dad used to collect leaf mould from the woods near our house when I was growing up. One day he was cleaning his fork and found a ring stuck on one of the tines - 18ct gold and 3 diamonds (one missing) probably an engagement ring.
All I have ever found was an old but quite pretty silver spoon in someone else's garden. I gave it to the garden's owner and she looked at it like I'd handed her dog mess. Bet it went in the bin.You are a child of the universe,

I've found lots of bits of clay pipes, like the ones they used to smoke many, many years ago. Wonder what the ground was used for in the past and the actual dates. My lottie is on the Penwortham site, immediately behind the Bridge Inn, Penwortham, Preston. Has anyone any idea the latest dates clay pipes were smoked? Bernie aka DDLBernie aka DDL
