My grandad (sadly many years departed and was a very keen gardener) was weeding their front patch when he found a ruby ring. He was very excited obviously and thought maybe a couple had had a tiff and the lady had flung it off..... when he showed Nanna she had to own up that it was hers and she had lost it 5 years previously! She had spent many years trying to find a vheap replic in the shops so he wold be none the wiser but hadn't found one.

I can't rememeber if it was her engagement ring or her ruby wedding ring but poor grandad was very cross she hadn't shared the fact that she'd lost it! Mind you he hadn't noticed... so clearly he was more fixated on his veggies than on what Nanna was wearing!

Clay pipes were in use from 1570 to about the 1860s-1870s.

So far I've found lots of claypipe bits and really big old handwrought nails (any ideas on that one? seem to hefty for allotment buildings) .. and a ring without a stone.. it was very feeble looking and a bit bent so i doubt theres a diamond floating around out there waiting for me to find it
                  I have a dream:
a dream that, one day, chickens can cross roads without having their motives questioned.
