  • Door open all night

Got up at 6.10 am this morning and thought it's nice and cool in the hall. No wonder the front door had been wide open all night I lock up at night, but OH was still up last night so left door open as still quite warm, he didn't think to lock it! Laptop on table, money in drawer all fortunately still there We have a small gate across to stop dog getting out, and a notice in window so if anyone had contemplated coming in that may have deterred them hopefully. Not only that, I'd left sunroof on my car open all night, thankfully it didn't rain.

I think we've had too much sun

LOL, when I got married and moved to live in a town, I had to be reminded all the time to lock the door. Growing up in the countryside with Scottish Deerhounds in the house, we never bothered.

Mind you, when Madmax was working in Reading a few years ago, he used to leave in the early hours of a Monday morning and I frequently got up to a freezing house as he had left the front door open! Just as well the dog was too busy hibernating to head off onto the road

I'm a Derbyshire lass, gemlady - whereabouts do you live? Have been known to leave the front door here unlocked, but not wide open!

On the outskirts of Chesterfield! We're on a main road, but most people drive by so probably wouldn't have noticed, and we've some trees at bottom of driveway. However, if they were on their way back from the pub on foot could have been a different story.

Its a bit scary of 'what' could have happened. At least he aint like my hubby on, he left eggs to boil, I returned home to find Fire Brigade on doorstep, a pan with a hole in it and the remains of eggs and a smell!! I was not too happy..........this was aboout 10 years ago, since then he aint allowed near the kitchen! LOL.

lol, my mum and dad used to leave their key in theor front door all the time when it was a wooden one. The number of times people knocked to tell them it was there! Even a policeman knocked and told them one day but it still didn't stop them.

Me too - after too many sherbets.

It's really hot here too, but we can't even leave windows open at night because of the noise from the next-door pub and kebab shop, which have such delightful clients until 3am

OH LOVES to nag me about security (setting alarm, locking door, not leaving door open even when in the house, not leaving anything in the car ever [i don't really get why leaving a rucksack in a car is ok, but leaving a rucksack with a purse concealed within is a mortal sin!]), but in the last two weeks he's managed to leave the front door unlocked all day... twice... and leave the car boot wide open til 10pm (luckily i went to take bin out and saw it). he's been told he can't nag me anymore!

I've left the keys in the lock of the car all night before now - its so knackered even the car thieves weren't interested!

And I've done the one with the house keys in the lock all night - our Postie knows I've lost it!

We don't bother about locking doors here. Crime rate and anti social behaviour is negligible.
