ouch! Thats painful, poor you. Yes pop Daniel in front of the telly while you rest, I'm sure he won't mind. Seriously try the aspirin thing, it does work.

Right......now, I am the resident Tonsilitis expert (see my miserable ramblings when I had it a couple of weeks ago!!)

I've had it 3 times now since beginning of March so I really do feel for you

The best thing I found for pain relief was to drink Beechams powders, they really were the only thing to stop the pain for me and other than that rest.
I had to have an extra weeks anti-biotics last time as it didn't clear up after the intial 7day dose....so if you're throat is even slightly sore when you finish this course get yourself back to the Drs for more drugs!!!

You'll probably start to feel a bit better by day 3...... so take it easy till then and get the beechams!!!!

I get it whenever I am run down; its the first thing it hits.

Get to bed, drink plenty of fluids, take the drugs and go back for more if it isn't gone at end of the course. i also used to use soluble aspirin to help the sore throat; then took the huge painkillers the doc used to give me [i couldn't get them down unless I took the aspirin to help the throat].

        Basically, what everyone else said.

Oh Tammy, how painful and how miserable. Take good care, stay snuggled up and get lots of rest. No doubt Daniel will appreciate the quiet, and love the extra tv.

          Get better soon honey

Thank you so much for making sure I went to docs yesterday - I still feel so ill and know if I wasnt taking the penicillin I would be in a very sorry state.

My brother in law (who lives 1/2 week in Enfield and 1/2 week in Rushden - long story) rang to say yes he would pop in for dinner. When he heard me or rather not heard me! he said he wouldnt have dinner but would come and put kids to bed. He then waited till Oliver came home and helped him feed bunnies and water what needed watering. When the friends mum heard what I had she offered to take Hannah to hers after tea and is doing the same today. Oliver said he would give me extra money so Daniel could go to playschool today as well as tomorrow and my friend has just taken him and will bring him home later. So you can see I am really being looked after.

Now question - sorry if too yucky this time in the morning. My breath stinks - the doctor said there was a lot of pus on the right hand side of my mouth - Is that why? Will the penicillin sort it or is there anything else I can do? I was (sound disgusting) letting myself dribble into tisshues all day yesterday to avoid having to swallow as it was soooo painful but in the end was gaging cos of the mucus. Yuk - seriously wondering if I should remove this paragraph - nah you are all big enough to take it!

Am going to hang around for a bit to see what you lot have to say but then bath and bed - its so quiet here - dont get that often. Now what can I manage for breakfast - thinking of pureeing some grapefruit. Only had 1/2 tin soup last night nothing else all day so at least I should be losing some weight!

Oh..and live yogurt should help with replacing the bowel bacteria which the antibiotics will kill off.
( stick some in the freezer and eat it like ice-cream...that should be nice and cool in the throat!)

Poor you hope you are feeling better soon, us mums dont usually suffer but i expect your imune system is shot at the moment. Rest and sleep as much as you can and let others take over. Put some headphones on with some soothing music so you dont hear what is going on around you.

Surely you dont think its an "aftershock" of the miscarriage? Seems longer than 4 weeks and my good moments far outweigh the bad now.

Sometimes these things can take a while to filter through, whilst you seem to be happy and you get on with life your body's natural defenses kick in and tell you to slow down.
I think thats why i have had more wrong with me since i lost my sister 7 months ago.
                            Just take it easy.

Poor Tammy! Glad you got sorted with some abs. Yes do get some live yogurt, antibiotics are a double edged sword. The breath thing is certainly down to the tonsilitis and all the yucky pus, you poor honey. Drink as much water as you can tollerate, iced and in sips that will help your body to flush out all the yuk.
Now get off the puter and get some rest!!!!

Morning Tammy. Glad to read your friends are rallying round. The bad breath is a side effect of the tonsillitis. It should go fairly quickly as the antibiotics kick in. I used to enjoy PLJ more diluted and with lots of ice when I had tonsillitis - the lemon taste cuts through all the scumminess you get and you actually taste it. Sometimes the chemist can advise a good local anaesthetic spray for the throat which helps a bit. Sleep is the best cure though so glad you have peace and quiet to do that - now get offline and sleep yourself better!
                                Happy Gardening,
                                Shirley
