In response to your first statement Heywayne, I think the circumstances have a lot to do with the outcome. The guys at BA, would I sack them, no they were trying to do their best. Ok the start never runs smoothly we all know this there is always teething problems, it doesn't mean that the system is wrong or at fault just that they need a breaking in period. I would give them 6 months and if by that time things still are groaning then I would review it.
Stopping and starting a fresh with some new guys is just going to compound the problem, they will bring in new practises when the existing ones are yet to be found to be at fault. How confusing is that for the bods on the ground. The new ceo's will obviously have attached to their contracts heavy bonuses if they can turn it around, so they have to show initiative and shake it up a little to justify their employment. Sometimes we all learn on the job, we all make mistakes in our workplace, but its about how we learn from them that makes the difference, and a good manager is one that can identify where the problems are and knows how to put it right, not one that doesn't have any problems.
