Yeah I managed to log on at one stage but the problem was still just as bad at 2 am. I thought Ben said the problem was solved a few weeks back in the snail site speed thread.
I have never been able to get a straight answer as to: If it is the number of guests that causes problems...there were 76 or something and one member! how come they could log on? If so why do we need guests? 'join us or get lost' I say...members wouldn't have to post if they didn't want....just be members.
Paulottie, I know I've said it a few times before, but while some of the guests might be potential grapes-to-be, others are the search engines hitting the site with us being a 'results found'
Just a small thought - has everybody on Windows XP updated their computers within the last week ? Windows released a very large update (Service Pack 3) which if not installed "may"slow your computer down.I know I could not get logged on one night lately but can't remember if it was before or after the update .
Just a thought
There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. Don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it in your future.
but in this case it was not my computer or connection as I was doing fine on another site.
Shortie, my question still stands whether it is search engines, fire engines, or potential grapes. Is it the number of guests that cause these slow downs? Sorry is that a really dim question? I'm probably getting out of my techno depth here! Are search engines just looking for the sight or scanning it for info?
Are you saying you've scheduled the sites back-ups for 20:30 each evening Dave? That is about when Friday nights problems seemed to start and went on most of the night?! If so could you schedule the backups for later in the evening when the site isn't so busy?
