I only sowed my seeds a fortnight ago in a window propagator and they are only just starting to poke their heads above the soil now!!!
Give us a poke next autumn when you are sowing, or do you need warm winters? (Will they manage in my cold scottish soil?)

deffo not in cold scottish soil..... I don't sow my autumn-sown straight into ground, I sow them into rootrainers and keep 'em in an unheated greenhouse.

I do tend to plant out early but I like taking a chance in life, it mostly pays off

            Note to Piskie's calendar:
            remind Claire when sowing sweetpeas.....

sweetpeas really dislike being disturbed (a bit like me on a Sunday morning ) and it is best to give them a good long root run to get them going.

The beauty of the rootrainers is that you open them up as you would a book (if that makes sense) and the plant gets popped into ground without even noticing it's morning
