  • Has Monty Don popped his cloggs??????

Just been watching gardeners world which I recorded earlier in the week, missed the begining; thought it was a bit wierd as all the presenters seem to be speaking about Monty Don in the past tense..............have I missed something??

I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

        see this post

He was taken properly poorly during Around the World in 80 Days - he is having rest, which is clearly needed.

They did seem to be mentioning him a lot on Fridays show, hope he's on the mend.

I was reading that as a lot of people have been wondering what's happened to him he has made a little statement saying he was feeling quite ill during February & March as things have been catching up with him & he's decided to take a break for a while. I think the other presenters are just trying to keep him in the loop by mentioning what he's already done & how they're adding to what he's started. Hope he's feeling better soon.

I seem to remember on a programme a few weeks ago made by Monty (can't remember the name) that he would be taking a break for a few weeks. I do remember that he suffers quite badly from Seasonal Affective Disorder and depression. I like him, and wish him well. However, Gardeners World isn't quite the same without him, hope he's back soon. The other presenters are doing well, but it seems a bit like a ship without a captain.

Thanks for that peeps, I really thought he'd kicked the bucket; with the news these days focusing only on polaticks, pilytictcs, politics!!!!!!!!!!! in the UK you just don't know what is happening here.........although I feel for the people suffering abroad at the moment.

He has had a bit of a tough time of late BBC NEWS | Entertainment | TV gardener Monty Don has stroke and is taking time to recover.

Best wishes to Monty and family....harsh times I 'spose, get well soon and all.

He has stood down from presenting Gardener's World. I hope they don't drag in the awful Alan Titchmarsh again - can't stand him. I always thought that I wouldn't watch it again when Geoff Hamilton died. I thought that he was perfect for the job. When the aforementioned Titchmarsh took over that was it switched off until Monty Don took over. I had enjoyed shows that I had seen him in - he comes over as a real gardener to me. I hope he manages the odd show.

He has proven to be a very popular presenter, but I hope only if he is in full health, as would his family I am sure. I would rather know that he is fit and well for himself and his family than know that he is compromising his health and well-being for his career.

Lots of good wishes and L & L in the direction of the Dons I am sure.

I hope they don't give the role to Carol K ..... I'll be on meds if they do, never mind her needing an increase.

Carol, I do love your enthusiasm but just sometimes you exhaust me.

So if not Carol - who to take over?

I was going to "plump" for Carol but if not Rachel De Thame (think thats spelt right) - dont feel a connection with any of the guys. That Christine would be fun - I find her facinating and I just adore her old boy of a neighbour - perfict grandpa material!
