        Can't be talkin' to me!

I feel your pain though. When I was little.......no hang on, that was never true. When I was younger I used to stay at my cousins for the first half of the summer holidays and then he'd stay at ours for the remainder anyway, one day it was hot and we decided to go to this thing called the "ticky" (it used to tick and then fill up with water) for a dip - very Stand By Me. Along the route we had to ride through some stingers and I was on his brothers bike which I could only just touch the floor on. Right in the midst of the stingers was a little hill and my cousin stopped just at the top meaning I had to stop behind him, one wheel on the hill, the other on the ground - I could not reach the floor.

All I had on was a pair of shorts and flip flops.

I was weeding in a squat down position and looked up to see (and marvel at) a red kite flying over my bonce when I went back-flip into stingers that I was carefully avoiding

here's a funny thing - I can pick stingers with my bare fingers okay, no stings. But if they brush the back or side of my hand, they really bite me! Maybe my fingertips are so tough the stings don't work.

I get stung so often now that I don't bother with docks, I just ignore the pain and convince myself it doesn't hurt. It really works (but try telling that to a one year old who just fell face-first in a patch)

Reminds me of camping with an Ex in France. He had d'rea (can't spell it: the runs) and leapt over a fence at the urgent call of nature. Pulled down his shorts, did his business in the bushes ... and was attacked by a swarm of French mozzies who all bit his bottom and his bits.

One of my sons was allergic to stingers, when he was little he fell out of the pushchair as we were taking a short cut through some fields ( turned out it wasnt and had to turn back ) his little body started swelling up so took him to hospital needed some antihistamine, after that if ever he touched stingers he would swell up and the spots would last for ages and have a head on them. He always managed to find the one and only nettle where ever we went.

if it still painfull try popping some bicarb soda in the bath, not sure if it really works but take a glass of wine & good book with you & it may just work!?

bicarb is great for itchiness (you'll need about half a tub) not sure if it works for stinger stings? Worth a try! Or some aloe vera maybe?
