  • Whayy! New allotments!

I am a local councillor. We have a patch of land that we haven't been able to do anything with. We are responsible for the health & safety of people on it even though it is fenced in such a way that anyone on it is trespassing.

We couldn't afford to turn it into a park as we are already stretched on the upkeep of other parks.

It turns out that this land was originally allotments in 1898 (should google this but how far back do lotties go?) and was compulsorily purchased for the war effort (eh?) and eventually became part of school playing fields.

So we now have carte blanche to turn it back into allotments as that was the original intention of the use of the land .

    Result!!
"I prefer rogues to imbeciles as they sometimes take a rest" (Alexander Dumas)
"It is neccessary to have wished for death in order to know how good it is to live" (also Alexandre Dumas)

That's brilliant news. Wonder if my local councillor (neighbour) knows of any land similarly forgotten round here.
