  • Very frustrating!!!

Ok, so i no longer have to buy lettuce as i have an abundance of it, but im very frustrated that im having to pay rip off supermarket prices for peppers and tomatoes every time i want a salad, knowing that in a month or two i'll have an abundance of those too.
A packet of seed is pence and i'll have all i can eat, you just dont realise how much you are being ripped off until you grow your own!
Life isnt about surviving the storm.....But learning to dance in the rain.

If you think about all the people who have to make money out of those tomatoes and peppers, then you can see why they are the price they are. The grower probably gets a pittance, then the produce has to be shipped, packed, shipped again, everyone that has a hand in getting it from the plant to your plate wants a cut!
When we grow our own, there's only our costs to consider, but if you factored in time, compost, pots, water etc, it still costs more than a packet of seed. You do however have the satisfaction of knowing you produced it, and know what you fed it etc. I was really pleased to have a salad with homegrown lettuce, radish and water cress the other day, you'll soon have all the makings of a truly great meal.

I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
