  • Plastic bag 'pots'

I'm not quite sure where to post this, so I'll start here.

When we lived in South Africa all of the plants we bought were in plastic bags. I'm going to need to buy atleast 60 2ltr plant pots so I thought these might be just the ticket.

I've spotted these on ebay: 20 x 4 litre plastic poly pot plant pots, 6" on eBay, also Plastic, Pots Window Boxes Baskets, Garden Plants, Home Garden (end time 25-May-08 19:41:57 BST)

Has anyone seen them sold elsewhere, or even know their proper name? I was thinking of using them for lupins and delphiniums- will they be okay in them during winter?

    Thanks
    Tracy

I try to get most of my pots for free - neighbours planting out bedding plants, skips, shops etc. These are great for sowing or potting on. For large pots our local Co-op regularly sells of their flower display black plastic buckets at 10p each - just drill some drainage holes and you have an excellent large pot for tomatoes etc.

If you know any sheep farmers you should be able to get lidded buckets for free too! Plenty big enough for potatoes, just drill a few holes in the bottom. We've got loads here, and take them to school for the gardens there too

Certainly seems that way. Don't see what industrial fans have to do with GYO.

i am using the plastic bag pots for the first time this year. I too got them off ebay but from a different supplier. I needed about 100 pots and I like that these are very easy to store when not in use and stack together better than round pots. I am using them for my chilli and pepper plants, 5L. seem to be working well so far.

when I say stack together I mean when they are full...I think they take up a little less room though could be wrong on that

Willow thats what I was thinking too (that they take up less room). I do have some of morrissons buckets (thanks for suggesting those), however I feel that these are just a bit too big.

Sadly I always too slow for freecycle- made I should try a wanted add.

Thank you for all your suggestions

Shortie; thanks - I was looking for it in the bottom line. Doh! As I said, it was a long day yesterday.
