not wanting to sound ignorant(but we are!),how do ya know if its spam?and is it potentially dangerous to our pc?basically we are 2 computer phobes,one of us paranoid about life in general without mention of uurrgly spammers & stuff!

The one I reported was in a thread I had started about planting brassicas in uncultivated ground. Basically, the 'spammer' posted a 'reply' which had no bearing at all on the topic and was, I suppose, some sort of advertising for a website. If you spot a thread like this, it is probably a good idea not to visit the website being advertised as it could be a spoof site which could lead to viruses or something (I don't understand the technicalities of how or if this would work). I don't understand why people get a kick from this and think they would be better off digging a hole and planting a spud!!
