  • Water, water everywhere....

I heard the rain begin in the night. Good, the 3 empty water butts will fill, everything will get a good water in etc, etc. I also thought I might pop out to sow some more radish and lettuce, a little rain wouldn't hurt. Well, a picture's worth a thousand words they say. (Sorry about the mess, I have been a bit busy with Cats over that last few days)
I watered the greenhouse, as it didn't get done last night, and got soaked in the process. Still, at least I hadn't wasted time carrying cans of water from the kitchen yesterday. Somehow I don't think I will visit Detling Garden Show. I couldn't go yesterday, and thought if it wasn't too bad weather I would pop along today Too much of a good thing AGAIN!

I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

What a fabulous garden, even in the rain!!
I would love to have an explore around it!
Up early today to get out in mine, as no rain yet, managed to get the potato bed weeded yesterday, OH has promised to help me get the potatoes in today.
Want to weed the carrot bed next, and plant them, then find somewhere to get some onions in.
Would love to weed the last of the strawberry bed too, and get OH to make a frame as the chickens are kicking them about something chronic.
so much to do, so little time!!! (and energy!)

i love the rain, especially after so long without any,was uhmming and ahing yeasterday about whether i should water the garden but decided against it, now i'm glad cuz mother nature helped instead!! i'll be busy with my cats today though, sat looking sad at the back door cuz they're wimps and won't go outside even if it looks overcast!!

got loads of weeding done yesterday, i find it really satisfying to see a bed looking nice and neat.

claire72 you're lucky ur OH can help you, mine won't try cuz i always say he hasn't done it right!!

Been raining here since around 7 am. Just a little at first, now raining steadily but not heavy. Just the good sort of rain at the moment. Doesn't look like I'll be going to the lottie, though unless it clears up.

What blue411 said; so stupidly windy you can't get too much done. And no rain either.

It's been heavy rain since 7.00 this morning so no gardening work here for a while. Hope it clears up a bit, as I don't have a greenhouse and I want to put some more chilli's in pots.

Whereabouts do you garden, Chilligal? You can add your location to your profile, just a county will do. This then shows up on your posts and helps with advice from other members as the UK has such varied weather and growing conditions.

Raining quite steadily here and has been for a while. Chilly wind blowing too. Never mind, it is saving me the trouble of watering and everything is growing!! Might retreat to the greenhouse in a while to plant more strawbs into growbags and might even pot on some toms and peppers.

Whooo hoo lovely rain. Got some funny looks when told it was going to rain for the weekend when I punched the air and went 'Yessss!'
Just imagining my plants having a good long drink and all that water trickling into the butts.

No rain here but the wind is fierce. I'd love a good downpour now.

You're welcome to some of ours We have had rain on and off for the past couple of days. I had to go out and buy some dustbins to put all the rainwater in, my Tubtrugs that were full of water were needed elsewhere.

My spuds need it though, even if I don't.
