can some one please tell me how to blanch veg to get them ready for freezing as i have quite a few broad and runner beans that will need freezing this year
so if i am reading that right , i wash my veg place it in a pan of boiling water , boil for 3 minutes and then transfer them to cold water and then treansfer them to a bowl with ice cubes and water and then put them in freezer bags and freez
i just wash them well, chop of anything unwanted, cut up the runners into aprox,1inch bits or bigger, the smaller dwarf, french, and mangeltout peas bag and freeze whole, make sure you give said bags a gentle shake when part frozen so the contents don't stick together, the same with broadies, carrots, swede, couliflower, parsnips, the later is also nice part roasted then froze, same with spudz, cut into chunks lightly spray with oil and roast, instant ready prepared wedges, what i always say is,do a sample freeze and try,i still have some runners in the freezer.
