Sorry you're upset by something about it Sanjo - but why don't you just let it go. What possible difference can it make now. Today is the start of the rest of your life. Look at it that way. You can do nothing about what happened in the past. You can work to shape your own future. Be happy.

Have you tried friends reunited? Maybe one of the old teachers would know what happened to the records.

I failed mine to. but now looking back at 26 years later I couldn't give a toss about it. Lifes to short.
There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. Don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it in your future.

I can honestly say it doesn't appear to have caused me any damage. OK so, had I gone to granma school I might have become a top lawyer like Cheri Blair (erm, nope scratch that) or a top politician like (erm, thinks hard...) like Gordon or Tony ...erm, nope scratch that.

Instead of which I worked my way through many good jobs, mostly admin based, which eventually lead to me setting up (8 years ago) my own business, I qualified as a Weigh-training/Power-lifting instructor in the 80's, had a hugely fun time. Am now studying Horticulture purely because I want to and am generally having a jolly good time.

So recap (children look away at this point) - did me not passing my 11+ ruin my chances of getting a good job ....erm, nope

          Good luck Sanjo

got to admit i'm a tiny bit curious about my 11+ results - not that i really cared - remember taking it and spending most of the exam daydreaming and looking out of the window ........

i seem to remember there wasn't a "pass mark" as such - it was the top X% that got through to grammer school - but i may be wrong ???

my brother went to grammar school after the 11+ but got expelled - he then got expelled from another 2 schools - but went on to become a store manager for DIY chain

as for me, i became a train driver, got my degree, became a single parent and lost my job, now run my own business and best of all, i have a good and happy life

Thanks for all the kind advice. At 60 I should be more grown up eh? I have two very bright grown up children and four delightful and intelligent grandchildren, one of whom is exceptionally bright. I like to think that me and their grandad were the start of it so perhaps 11+ for me doesn't really matter. Thanks again all. If I ever get a usable reply from authority, I'll post again - but don't hold your breath. Sanjo

So what was the bee in your bonnet? That your sister thinks you're thick?
You know you're not; good exam results just show you're good at passing exams.

You're right Two Sheds - I am not thick but then neither is my sister. Of the 6 of us 3 were dyslexic (which obviously wasn't recognised back in the dark ages - it runs quite strongly through the whole family but at least our little ones get help now) and 3 weren't. Of the three of us who weren't, guess which one went to the duff school because we already had my bigger sister's uniform!! I have various qualifications which I have obtained as an adult and of which I am proud as they were through my own efforts. Ah well, all water under the bridge now and I should stop grizzling about it but I just get irritated when one of them makes an emphatic statement (especially when she is two years younger and probably doesn't have the info). Love them all dearly of course but then that's sisters for you. Should have had a brother to keep us all in line. My parents tried hard enough! Sanjo
