has anyone been to cromer?

We are going on a small camping trip this weekend and wondered where the best pubs were for meals. The kids want to go fishing - has anyone tried sea fishing before?

wow! never considered myself particularly well travelled but 3 threads in 1 day where i've been!!andi says it's excellent 4 shrimping,but not sure of their season,also was a bit on local news about cromer crabs this a.m.apparently the 1's close enough to catch without going out 2 sea are too small to eat & they've got a preservation order saying you cant eat,but allowed 2 catch & put back. a trip worth taking would be Blakeny point,you go out on a boat 2 see hoards of seals. sure you'll have a lovely time Norfolk coast is beautifull,(although obviously not as b'full as Suffolk!!)have fun

No, but there was a play on the tele years ago called East of Ipswich (maybe based on Michael Palin's childhood holidays) and I'm sure it was about Cromer.

i havent been for years and years, but have a friend in that area and its lovely, so she tells me, go have some fun and a great weekend, hope the sun shines for you, better than Beds this week eh!

I've been camping at Deers Glade a couple of times, it's 7 miles south of Cromer, and just the best little campsite ~ friendly, great for kids, has a fishing lake, swings, walks, the showers are out of this world, and a free taxi to the local pub, which has a beer garden/playground and does good meals. As for Cromer itself: it's famous for its crabs. Not much else. We went last weekend ~ I don't like the place, it's a typical Norfolk seaside town, although not as full of amusement arcades as, say, Gt Yarmouth. I didn't find anywhere or anything good to eat or drink there ~ even the chips were horrible. Sorry

Used to go to Cromer when I was little - ok, when I was a kid anyway. Can't remember much about it other than the static caravan we stayed in...

i grew up in norfok and we used to go for chips in cromer quite a lot- never went to any pubs though being too young!
I would recommend going to west runton though and checking out the rock pools that are left when the tide goes out- it's a couple of miles west of cromer on the coast rd. My friend & I caught a lobster there years ago- which we put back obviously!
we went there a few weeks ago and there is a pub there with a massive beer garden if the weather is good- they do food but we only stopped by for a drink.

I went to cromer 25 years ago during wimbledon week it was wet, very windy, very cold, bit like the weather we have been having lately.

We went with the children about 20 years ago. Old fashioned sea-side town - I loved it! At that age of course, we didn't take the kids in pubs but there were plenty of places to eat.

The third breakwater east of Cromer pier, where the water is deeper than most of the surrounding area is said to be the prime place. Fishing from the pier is popular and on a calm evening, mackerel can be caught around the piles of the lifeboat shed.

dont know about cromer but in sheringham just few miles away there is a steak place called stanleys that was really nice a few years ago when i went, but they dont hold a alcohol serving licience so you have to take your own wine. also there is a very nice pub between swafham and norwich that does one of the best steaks ive tasted and magnificent sunday lunches i can remember its name but its on lang lane and comes under swafham on the sat nav so just put in lang lane swafham has a massive car park too that you can get motorhomes / caravans in, hope this helps

will let you all know what cromer is like in the rain - on sunday - cant be any wetter than bedfordshire surely! i like sitting in the rain in a tent listening - its cosy.
