Hugh has always been a supporter of veggies, well vegans at least, its the half harted ones he has issues with.

...Oh. Less than half way in and Hugh's off cutting up dead animals.
Not quite the 'going all veggie' i'd hoped for ; )

Still, a nice surprise to see my old mate Ian Joyner doing some of that digging on that new Bristol allotment not far from me - looked a bit like my plot before I started.

I'm watching on C4+1... and wondering when Hugh learnt to deliver lambs? I remember watching River Cottage when he got an expert in to help with lambing.

Much as I admire HFW - and I do - I have to say that I hope future episodes are an improvement - too bitty for my own liking, but that's just me. I will still watch it though

I've always enjoyed watching HFW programmes - from @A Cook on the Wild Side' to his River Cottage series. I admire his ability to eat anything - from nettles and worms to his own home reared animals. However watching last nights episode I was left a little confused.

His new butchers apprentice, Susan, seemed like a nice lass. But why, after 15 years of being vegetarian, does she need 'help' to become a meat eater again?!!

I spent 10 years avoiding meat and was quite happy with my diet. Slowly I began to want to eat meat again - and did! But that was due to personal taste. I started eating meat again because my taste buds wanted it. Surely if you want to eat meat you do not need coaching in to it? I feel quite bemused that Susan is almost forcing herself to try meat again

If she wants to eat meat again then that is her choice - as it was mine - but she comes accross as being obliged to try it for her wedding - why?! It's her wedding - the bride should eat what she wants.

Having said that - starting with offal?!! Brave lady.
