  • Great news

I currently work 2 part time jobs as a teacher, mornings in a nursery class or 3 and 4 year olds, and afternoons in a residential care home for teenagers with behavioural problems.
I had found the two jobs a real strain, and my health has suffered a little as a result (I am diabetic)
Last week I handed in my notice at the morning job, and today I heard that I had been granted a 4 day working week with the afternoon job
This means I will be working Monday and Tuesday all day, taking Wednesday off, then working Thursday and Friday all day!
I am absolutely chuffed to bits, this means I will have one day a week when I can take my kids to school (A job I have never done as I was always at school) and pick them up, and get the benefit of a full day every week all to myself.

    Happy happy happy!
(the changes don't take effect until after the summer holidays)

Good luck Clare - recognise that although you will have better work/life balance your choice of job will still be challenging but hey you must enjoy it. Though don't work in residential have some knowledge of the challenges that young people can bring. just as well working the soil can be so therapeutic

That's more like it! Isn't it great when things fall into place like that? It must have been so hard to split yourself with two jobs that were so different. Really good news!

I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
