There are no second prizes as such, but all these acts who get to the final will be snapped up by talent scouts.
Apparently the Lloyd Webber one (not watched it) have just hired the girl they put out, for another production(my friend knows her)
think sometimes, especially the youngsters are better to come second, as then they have more of a say in how fast they rise to stardom so to speak.
I would have voted for Andrew, but then we are biased as he is from Carlisle (Just down the road)

Not that I'm old enough to remember *averts eyes and covers mouth so as not to be caught out telling lies*
but it was Opportunity Knocks with Hughie Green and they had some prety famous people on there as far as I can remember - oops, what a giveaway!

didn't Lenny Henry get his break on OppKnocks?not sure if that can be used in argument for or against talent shows!

Just to be pedantic (sorry) Lenny started out on New Faces, not Opportunity Knocks.
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

Having accidentally been a contestant last year, I've been thoroughly boycotting BGT this year

How can you 'accidently' be a contestant? What did you accidently do and how well did it go?

I was Dr Gore's nurse. His original assistant broke her leg not long before the show, and as I'd done some assistant-ing for him before, he gave me a call.

It went... rather badly. We generally refer to it as "hell week" now - not allowed to do the routine we wanted to do, having them insist on us doing one that lacked the humour that makes Dr Gore as good as he is, thus making us look - well, absolutely rubbish really. It was a week fighting against TV people who treat you like a tin of beans on a production line.

                      Never again!

(I've been known to get cut in half on the odd occasion since, mind...)

sorry it wasn't a good experience, but at least it didn't put you off performing.

For once I actually enjoyed this 'type' of telly - I have no time for the singy ones (Andrew Lloyd Webber included), find Big Brother, wife swap, Jordon & Peter aka Dumb and Dumber, etc an insult to my being and generally avoid any form of reality / chat show tv BUT BgT is fabulous! There are some incredibly talented people out there who have been given an opportunity they might otherwise not have had. Loved Signature, thought George was spectacular and Faryl and the young lad were something else - looking forward to the next series... in the meantime it's back to avoiding the rest of the crap the tv companies like to throw at us
