We have noisy neighbours but nothing on the scale you mention I do feel for you. Also next door but one is a nice policeman and another one on the opposite side of the square. The worst time is at weekends when people use the road as a short cut to walk home at least it doesnt last long.
I dont sleep very well at the moment and the slightest noise wakes me up.
When we come home late which isnt very often I make sure we keep the noise to a minimum and get inside quickly. When the neighbours went on holiday it took them about an hour to pack the car at three in the morning and they were banging the doors every time they put something in the car, Yet they are the first to complain, the dog barks constantly when its outside.
My son aged 24 and his girlfriend aged 36 have just moved into a new privately owned very expensive block of 14 flats they were told tenants had to be over 25 yrs but let them have a flat, entrance by phone only.
Then this week cos some are still vacant they have let them to a couple of young girls and the noise and the loud foul language late at night has started plus the rent for the new ones has gone down by £75 per month. He is off to the landlords today and he is not the first one to complain.
    Hope you sort it soon.

That's not true. A landlord can evict a person for any reason he chooses, so long as he follows correct procedure - depends on the tenancy, but usually this is 2 months notice.

Causing excessive noise may be a criminal offence (breach of the peace).

Also, a uniformed police officer may require a person making a noise giving “any other person reasonable cause for annoyance” to stop. If the person doesn’t stop after being warned he may be charged with an offence.

The police can also enter someone’s property to confiscate a stereo, television or musical instrument if its use is causing annoyance. They may use reasonable force to do this.

Part 3 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 provides that where noise amounting to a statutory nuisance (i.e. it is prejudicial to health or a nuisance) occurs or is likely to occur (or recur) the local authority’s environmental health officers can serve a noise abatement notice. Any aggrieved person can apply to the court for a similar order.7

UPDATE: I had to let you know, I got back from the lotty last night and saw a "TO LET" board outside my Russian neighbours' house ! Yipeeeeeeeeeee ; )

After their landlord paid them a visit, THEY decided to give notice !?

Unfortunately though, they've got nothing to lose now and for a while they had their amp turned up to 11 - so I treated them to my latest album at 12 - Hahahahah DOWIDZENIA !

                  Result!

Now can someone sort out the pile-driver/whumper/whacker, whatever the eff it is, going off 90 times a minute down here ~ it's not a loud noise, but it gets right in the back of your head, you can feel it more than hear it

It is slowly driving me nuts - I now can't remember when I couldn't hear it.

(OMG, it just stopped You're good, you are)

My neighbours are noisy, but not particularly in a "nuisance" way - they just have really loud voices, and volatile inter-familial relationships. Much shouting and screaming. It was a nightmare and had me really on edge for a while after we moved in, but they've toned it down a lot now - I think they were used to our house being empty, and adjusting their internal volume to suit. A few days of loud folk music and they started remembering they had neighbours

They do have occasional all-night parties where they play both kinds of music (country *and* western), carouse all over the garden and keep us awake all night - but that just means they're less likely to complain when we do similar (only with different music)

I sympathise totally, I just can't stand noise coming from neighbours, its especially worse in the summer when everyone is BBQ ing, and what I object to most is having to listen to their flippin' music. Baah humbug ... I wouldn't dream of turning my music up so high that the next street can hear it too !! Haven't they heard of headphones.

Gripe over, if I were you I would keep a diary of events/disturbances as evidence to present to the council.

Sent it last week, with full details of the BPM (Beats Per Minute) style and vocal content / lyrics ! (But as I wrote, I'm fairly sure they're moving out anyway, they obviously can't handle me : )

I hope his girlfriend chucks him.

Greenlung, have to agree with His Wayneness, the music is great Must admit to sitting with a puzzled look on my face for a while, trying to work out if "Deeper & Longer" was the name of an Underworld tune, but on fishing out my Zen found out that theirs is called "Dark & Long"... Similar! (But not similar music)
Reminds me of a CD we had a few years ago called "Feed Your Head" (wonder what happened to that...?) amongst other things. Do you like Banco de Gaia?
Will likely download your album, after payday!
