As the SNC had been a bit slow the Moderators decided to give it a summer holiday. As Two_Sheds says, we have been having unofficial Sunday chats. I think the slowness of the vine in the evenings now is what puts people off, not the Sunday chat per-se

LOL, I can't say I have ever tried that but you could almost have made dinner in the time it took to load pages last night. I gave up and headed for an early night! I wonder if it is time for bigger servers or something to help ease the problem

It's a while since I managed to participate in the Sunday Chat. Slowness is part of the reason I stopped. The other part is that my other half is home on Sunday evening and gearing up for the week ahead - he is not yet retired. It seems a bit unsociable not to spend the evening with him rather than you people, when I have all week in your inestimable company.

I did noticed last week that there was a sort of 'Not the nine o'clock News' version but I hadn't realised there was an official halt on it.

I've only dipped in on occasion, and always thought that calling it "chat" was a bit of a stretch.

It's a bit like chat in a communal room in an old people's home.

Used to be great craic when Beefy, Pigletwillie and Geordie all joined in with much flirting, laughter and fun, you had to be on the ball to follow it all. the flow has gone with the delay in loading pages and the general slowness, I have often gone to post and by the time I have done that, the chat has moved on a bit and that is why the 'stutter' seems to creep in.

That's what I mean - you'd reply to something, but by the time it had reloaded, a couple of conversations had already interspersed.

Would a "proper" chat page be possible? You know where everyone is visible and replies are instant? I think it's called java chat or something like that.

No, it annoyed me a bit as well, same comments over and over but other people enjoy so each to their own. I'll drop in every few months but I've usually got 1001 other things to do on a Sunday night then keep hitting refresh
